Everton supporters faced a shock when a 71‑year‑old fan was arrested during the 3‑3 Premier League draw at Hill Dickinson Stadium for alleged racist abuse directed at Manchester City striker Antoine Semenyo.

Police cited the incident as a racially aggravated public‑order offence. The man, from Nottinghamshire, was bailed with conditions that bar him from any sports stadium within a mile for four hours before and after kick‑off.

Everton condemned the behaviour, reiterating its zero‑tolerance policy. The club pledged full cooperation with authorities while calling for stricter penalties against offenders.

City also condemned online abuse aimed at defender Marc Guehi. The episode marks the second time Semenyo has been targeted this season, following a similar incident at Liverpool against former club Bournemouth.
