Mexican superstar Hirving Lozano has been loaned to LA Galaxy for the rest of the 2026 MLS season after a public fallout with San Diego FC. The 31-year-old hasn't played since November due to an extended strain that included a shouting match with coach Mikey Varas. San Diego froze out its highest-profile player for months, with Lozano training alone while offers came from MLS and abroad. He was left off Mexico's World Cup roster.

Galaxy GM Will Kuntz called Lozano "the perfect football fit" after a long pursuit. Lozano will play on the left, moving Joseph Paintsil to the right. The Galaxy are paying $2 million of Lozano's remaining salary—part of his league-high $9.33 million compensation. Kuntz says Lozano is sharp but needs sprint work. Lozano could debut Saturday at Houston.
