Former Mexico star Hirving "Chucky" Lozano is finalizing a loan to the LA Galaxy from San Diego FC, sources told ESPN. The deal makes him a Designated Player for the remainder of 2026, with an option to move permanently next season.

Lozano, who last played for San Diego in November 2025, has been sidelined after tensions with the club. A shouting match with head coach Mikey Varas in October and San Diego sporting director Tyler Heaps stating he was not in the club's "sporting plans" preceded the departure. He posted 11 goals and 11 assists in 31 appearances for San Diego in 2025.

The Mexico international scored 18 goals in 75 appearances since his 2016 debut, highlighted by a 2018 World Cup winner against Germany. He missed Mexico's World Cup roster this summer after limited game time. The Galaxy, currently 12th in the Western Conference, will host him to boost their attack and play Houston Dynamo on Aug. 15.
