Liga MX has announced Francisco Iturbide as its new president, succeeding Mikel Arriola. Arriola will now focus solely on his role as commissioner of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF).

Iturbide, who began his career with Liga MX as an intern 11 years ago, expressed his honor and commitment to leading the league into a new era. "I arrived 11 years ago as an intern at this institution and was convinced that with work, patience, and dedication, you can achieve your dreams," he stated.

This leadership change marks a return to independence for Liga MX from the FMF, a structure that was temporarily merged when Arriola held both presidential roles. Iturbide, a former academy player for Club America, will now oversee significant changes within the league, including new foreign investment, centralization efforts, and the controversial decision to suspend promotion and relegation, despite a prior ruling from the Court of Arbitration of Sport.
