The 2026 Leagues Cup will mark a historic shift as Liga MX teams host phase one matches in Mexico for the first time since the tournament adopted its modern format three years ago. The competition kicks off on Aug. 4 with 54 games featuring all 18 Major League Soccer clubs and Liga MX teams.

This year's format mirrors the 2025 edition, with teams competing in three group matches to qualify for knockout rounds. Four matches will be played in Mexico, with Club Toluca hosting two games at Estadio Nemesio Díez against Seattle Sounders and FC Dallas. Club América will host San Diego FC at Estadio Banorte, while Tigres UANL faces Vancouver Whitecaps at Estadio Universitario.

The tournament maintains its no-draws format, with tied games proceeding directly to penalties. The top four clubs from each league's standings will compete in single-elimination knockout rounds featuring only MLS vs. Liga MX matchups. The final is scheduled for Sept. 6, with the champions and top three finishers earning spots in the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup.
