Mexico to host Leagues Cup matches in 2026 after tournament expands across North America.

Following the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the intraleague competition featuring MLS and Liga MX clubs will now include venues in Mexico alongside the United States and Canada. This marks a significant geographical expansion for the tournament, which previously operated exclusively in North America.

The expanded format, starting August 4th with 18 Mexican and 18 qualifying MLS teams, mirrors the 2025 structure but now incorporates all three nations. All 54 phase-one matches will be played between Liga MX and MLS clubs, culminating in a September 6th final. Seattle Sounders FC won last year's competition.

The move reflects the growing integration of North American soccer and leverages the infrastructure developed for the World Cup, potentially boosting fan engagement and revenue streams for clubs across the continent.
