Florida State interim coach Rick Stockstill said he will give the program everything he has to finish the season strong. Stockstill, a Florida State alumnus who played quarterback under Bobby Bowden from 1977 to 1981, returned to the Seminoles in 2024 as director of scouting for offense after 18 seasons as Middle Tennessee head coach. Elevated to interim coach after Mike Norvell's firing following a 3-5 start, Stockstill emphasized getting players to play with heart and passion for the school.
With four regular-season games remaining, starting Saturday at Boston College, Stockstill's main goal is to instill the responsibility and pride he associates with Florida State. Norvell was fired in his seventh season despite a successful run at Middle Tennessee that included 10 bowl appearances. Florida State is 10-22 since 2024, but Stockstill insists the program is close to winning again, stating it will take everyone pulling the rope in the same direction to restore the program's former success.
