Canada head coach Jesse Marsch expressed confidence that captain Alphonso Davies will play in the FIFA World Cup despite the hamstring injury that sidelined him during Bayern Munich's Champions League semifinal loss. Marsch included Davies on the 32-player training camp roster, though he won't be ready for Canada's June 12 opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Davies continues his rehabilitation in Germany with Bayern Munich, benefiting from advanced treatment protocols unavailable in North America. The 25-year-old will join Canada on May 31 in Edmonton to continue his rehab with the national team staff. Marsch emphasized the importance of both club and country working together on Davies' recovery.

Canada is currently training in Charlotte, North Carolina, with final tune-up matches against Uzbekistan on June 1 and Ireland on June 5. The squad will be trimmed to 26 players for the tournament co-hosted by Canada, US, and Mexico. Marsch remains optimistic about Davies' availability beyond the group stage despite the early injury setback.
