Berterame specifically highlighted Luis Suárez as his primary example to follow, noting how the Uruguayan's ball control, finishing, and patience in the box have influenced his development. 'I think that's fantastic, so I'm taking all of that away from him,' Berterame said, explaining that he studied Suárez's matches at Barcelona before joining Inter Miami.

The striker emphasized that playing with Messi provides a 'tremendous boost' that motivates him to improve constantly. Berterame, who has eight appearances for Mexico since his 2024 naturalization, said national team manager Javier Aguirre supported his move to Miami and encouraged him to maintain his form for World Cup consideration.
