Napoli Threatens Action Over Lukaku's Training Absence

Napoli has warned striker Romelu Lukaku could face disciplinary action after he failed to return to training as requested by the club. The Belgian forward has played just 64 minutes of football this season and is currently sidelined with a muscle injury. Lukaku, who has 124 caps for Belgium and scored 89 goals for his country, had previously stated he could never turn his back on Napoli.

In a statement, Lukaku explained his absence, citing physical discomfort and inflammation in his iliopsoas muscle near scar tissue. The 30-year-old said he underwent medical checks in Belgium and chose to rehabilitate there to be ready when called upon. Lukaku, who lost his father Roger in September, described the season as challenging due to injury and personal loss.

The situation highlights tensions between Lukaku and Napoli management, with the striker's limited playing time raising questions about his future at the club. As Belgium's all-time leading scorer aiming for his fourth World Cup, Lukaku's fitness and club situation remain crucial factors for both Napoli and the national team.
