The Carolina Hurricanes have added three new minority owners to their ownership group, including retired NHL player Bobby Farnham. Team owner Tom Dundon announced Thursday that Brett Jefferson, Marc Grandisson, and Farnham had joined the ownership group. The additions bring fresh business expertise to the organization as the Hurricanes continue their operations under Dundon's majority ownership.

Jefferson, who founded an asset management firm, and Grandisson, a retired insurance industry executive, join Farnham as the newest members of the ownership group. Farnham, just 37 years old, played 67 NHL games before transitioning to private investment business. The Hurricanes did not disclose financial terms of the ownership stakes, though Sportico reported last week that Dundon had agreed to sell 12.5% at a valuation of $2.66 billion.

The new owners will be formally introduced before the Hurricanes' home game against Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Dundon, who has been Carolina's majority owner since 2018, took sole possession of the club in 2021 when he bought out remaining stakes held by Peter Karmanos and others. The additions continue Dundon's strategy of building a diverse ownership group with strong business credentials.
