Meghan Duggan leaves her NHL player development role to become general manager of the PWHL's Hamilton expansion franchise. The three-time U.S. Olympian had spent five years with the New Jersey Devils, including four years as director of player development before this move.

The 38-year-old Duggan brings significant name recognition and Olympic pedigree to the league's fifth Canadian-based team. She won Olympic silver in 2010 and 2014 before capturing gold in 2018 as team captain, plus seven world championship golds. Despite her American background, Duggan has Canadian connections through marriage to former Team Canada rival Gillian Apps.

Duggan's immediate responsibilities include hiring a coaching staff and preparing Hamilton's roster for the expansion signing process beginning in two weeks, followed by the PWHL draft on June 17. Her hiring helps double the league's size to 12 teams for next season.
