Terrion Arnold Avoids GPS Monitor, Works Out for NFL Teams

A Florida judge ruled Friday that former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold does not need to wear a GPS tracker while awaiting trial on kidnapping and robbery charges, clearing the way for him to continue working out with NFL teams. Arnold, a 2024 first-round pick out of Alabama, turned himself in on June 24 in connection with a February incident in the Tampa area and remains out on a $1 million bond with home confinement exceptions for work and legal appointments.

Prosecutors sought to modify his release conditions after the Lions released him last week, arguing his change in employment status warranted a GPS monitor. Judge Jeffrey Rich disagreed. Agent Nicole Lynn testified that the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans, and Indianapolis Colts all inquired within 24 hours of his release. Arnold completed a workout with the Texans this week and has another scheduled next week.

Lynn told the court there is a "very good likelihood" Arnold signs within 45 days, though no contract or verbal agreement exists. He cleared waivers Monday and is now an unrestricted free agent.

The ruling keeps Arnold's NFL career alive, but the pending felony case casts a long shadow. Teams willing to work him out are signaling talent evaluation outweighs legal risk — for now. A conviction would likely end his career before it restarts.
