Kansas City Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice is facing a civil lawsuit from an ex-girlfriend who alleges he repeatedly assaulted her during an 18-month period from 2023 to 2025. The suit, filed in Texas by Dacoda Jones, seeks more than $1 million in damages and claims Rice engaged in physical abuse while she was pregnant.

Jones alleges Rice strangled her in December 2023 and exhibited a pattern of abusive behavior including grabbing, choking, pushing, hitting, and headbutting. The lawsuit claims he also punched walls, destroyed property, and locked her out of their apartment at night. Jones is seeking compensation for physical pain, mental anguish, medical care, and lost earnings.

The NFL is investigating the allegations after Jones initially posted photos of her injuries on Instagram last month. The league stated Wednesday that "the matter remains under review." This legal trouble comes on top of Rice's existing criminal case from a 2024 Dallas car crash where he pleaded guilty to felony collision charges and received a six-game NFL suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy.
