Myles Garrett's 2026 Pay Jumps to $37M in Rams Deal

The Los Angeles Rams completed their trade acquisition of defensive end Myles Garrett by finalizing a reworked contract that boosts his 2026 compensation. Originally set at $31.5 million with per-game roster bonuses, Garrett's salary for next season now reaches at least $37 million. The move comes after Cleveland dealt the reigning Defensive Player of the Year on Monday.

Despite the salary increase, the total value of Garrett's contract remains unchanged at $160 million over four years. The Rams inherit a massive cap hit while acquiring one of the league's premier pass rushers. Garrett still controls his destiny with a no-trade clause, limiting Los Angeles' flexibility if things don't work out. This financial commitment signals the Rams' win-now approach under new leadership.

Cleveland received outside linebacker Jared Verse plus three draft picks in the deal. The 2029 selection becomes a first-rounder if Garrett lands with another AFC North team, protecting the Browns' interests. Los Angeles gave up significant future assets to pair Garrett with Aaron Donald along the defensive line.

The Rams are betting heavily on immediate impact from their new defensive anchor, but the lack of contract extension flexibility leaves them vulnerable if Garrett's production declines or injury strikes.
