Judge injury concerns grow as Yankees await test results

Aaron Judge missed his third consecutive game Thursday as the New York Yankees await test results on a bone bruise in his right ribs causing shoulder pain. Manager Aaron Boone expects clarity after Judge underwent additional testing including a CT scan Thursday morning following an MRI earlier in the week. The bruise was first revealed during testing on Monday's off day.

Judge, a three-time AL MVP, is hitting .248 with 17 homers and 38 RBIs this season. He has just one homer in his past 18 games since May 10, ending an 11-game homer and RBI drought on May 24. The slugger previously suffered a stress fracture in his right ribs in March 2020 but didn't miss time due to the pandemic-delayed season.

The Yankees are dealing with multiple injuries as Giancarlo Stanton remains out with a strained right calf. Judge had started 52 of the team's first 59 games in right field, forcing them to use José Caballero and rookie Max Schuemmann in his absence. The team's offensive production suffers significantly when Judge is not in the lineup.
