Jets Lock Up Joe Tippmann With Four-Year Extension

The New York Jets secured right guard Joe Tippmann with a four-year, $62 million contract extension that includes $31 million in new guarantees, according to sources. The deal keeps the 25-year-old under contract through 2030 and makes him the NFL's 15th-highest paid guard at $15.5 million annually.

Tippmann, a former second-round pick entering the final year of his rookie deal, would have hit free agency in 2027. Instead, the Jets continue their strategy of retaining young talent under general manager Darren Mougey and coach Aaron Glenn. This follows recent extensions for Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, and other key players.

The former center has been remarkably durable, missing only one game in three seasons while accumulating 48 starts and over 800 snaps each year. He switched to right guard full-time in 2025 after playing center in 2023 and part of 2024. Despite ranking 42nd in pass-block win rate among guards last season, his versatility and reliability made him a priority.

With this extension, every offensive starter except quarterback Geno Smith is now under contract through at least 2027. The Jets have locked up their three best offensive linemen in Tippmann, left tackle Olu Fashanu and right tackle Armand Membou, giving their line stability heading into the future.
