ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Jahmyr Gibbs feels relieved after inking his new three-year, $67.5 million contract and is ready to focus on football, the Detroit Lions Pro Bowl running back said Friday. "This process has been extremely stressful. I just wanted to play ball," Gibbs said. He officially signed Friday morning, ending his hold-in after six missed practices. The deal includes $51.5 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid running back in NFL history.

Gibbs was on the field for a limited second straight day. With deals done for Colts' Jonathan Taylor and Falcons' Bijan Robinson after hold-ins, Gibbs takes pride in resetting the running back market. "We want to open the gates for the younger generation," he said. He received congratulatory messages from Taylor, Robinson, Derrick Henry, and others.

Lions All-Pro linebacker Jack Campbell welcomed Gibbs back but joked about facing him in drills. First-year offensive coordinator Drew Petzing isn't worried about Gibbs adjusting to the new system, saying, "He's one of our best players." Petzing has stayed in touch with Gibbs and used the time to give other backs like Jacob Saylors and Isiah Pacheco more reps.
