Jets' Draft Strategy: Edge Rusher First, Then Wide Receiver?

The New York Jets are expected to use the No. 2 overall pick on an edge rusher, with David Bailey currently favored over Arvell Reese according to betting odds. After addressing defense in free agency, the Jets now face the challenge of improving an offense that ranked 29th in both scoring and yards last season.

With their second first-round pick at No. 16, the Jets are likely targeting a wide receiver to complement Garrett Wilson. Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson is considered the top receiver in the draft, though acquiring him would require trading up and likely surrendering their second second-round pick (No. 44). Ohio State's Carnell Tate is also in consideration, but the Jets appear more interested in Tyson.

The Jets could explore other options including Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq, who possesses wide receiver speed (4.39-second 40-yard dash) in a tight end's body. General manager Darren Mougey praised the wide receiver class as having diverse skill sets, while coach Aaron Glenn needs immediate impact players after a 3-14 season. The team's offensive additions have been limited to quarterback Geno Smith and guard Dylan Parham from the Las Vegas Raiders.
