Chris Olave signs $132M extension with Saints

The New Orleans Saints are signing wide receiver Chris Olave to a four-year extension worth up to $132 million, including $90 million guaranteed. The deal, confirmed by the Saints, ends nearly a year of negotiations and will keep Olave under contract through 2030. This extension makes it the largest contract given to a Saints wide receiver since Michael Thomas's deal in 2019.

Olave's new contract resolves a "hold-in" during training camp, where he participated in drills but not full team activities. While negotiations took time, Saints coach Kellen Moore emphasized communication and shared goals between the player and the team. Olave had previously expressed a desire for the deal to be finalized before training camp to maintain team chemistry.

The negotiations also factored in Olave's health history, including a blood clot that required him to be on blood thinners and at least two concussions sustained during the 2024 season. After contemplating retirement, Olave returned for the 2025 season and had a strong performance. General Manager Mickey Loomis acknowledged Olave's health as a variable in the contract talks but praised his enthusiasm and commitment to the team.
