Alvin Kamara Reworks Deal with Saints

Running back Alvin Kamara has agreed to a reworked contract to remain with the New Orleans Saints in 2026, his agent confirmed to NFL Network.

"Alvin's goal, and the team's goal, was for him to remain with the Saints and retire a Saint," agent Brad Cicala stated. Details of the restructured deal were not immediately available. Kamara was set to earn up to $11.5 million in base salary this season, following a renegotiation for salary cap purposes in March where $3 million became guaranteed. This comes after the Saints signed former Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. to a lucrative deal.

The combined contracts for Kamara and Etienne made the running back position costly for the Saints, who were dedicating $21 million in cap space to seven running backs before Kamara's revised deal. Despite speculation, Kamara expressed excitement about teaming with Etienne, recalling past successes with complementary backs like Mark Ingram and Latavius Murray. He previously stated his desire to only play in New Orleans, addressing trade rumors and his own recent career lows in yards and touchdowns.
