Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has pledged a more aggressive approach to free agency following the team's disappointing 7-9-1 season in 2025. Speaking at the NFL scouting combine, Jones acknowledged the franchise's 30-year Super Bowl drought and promised fans he would do whatever it takes to return to championship contention.

To create salary cap space, the Cowboys plan to restructure contracts for quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and left guard Tyler Smith, generating approximately $66 million in room. Jones also indicated plans to rework deals for defensive tackles Kenny Clark, Quinnen Williams, and Osa Odighizuwa, who currently account for around $63 million against the cap. The owner admitted he's willing to 'borrow from the future' to build a competitive roster.

Jones specifically highlighted the need to upgrade the defense, which finished near the bottom of the league in yards and points allowed. With two first-round draft picks and the potential for trades, the Cowboys have multiple avenues to add talent. The owner emphasized that improving third-down efficiency and stopping opponents will be priorities, suggesting significant investments in defensive personnel are coming. At 83 years old, Jones made clear that winning another Super Bowl remains his highest priority outside of family.
