The Jacksonville Jaguars traded for quarterback Quinn Ewers on Saturday, sending a sixth-round pick in 2028 to the Miami Dolphins for the second-year player. Ewers, 23, played in four games last season and completed 66.3% of his passes for 622 yards and three touchdowns with three interceptions. The Dolphins went 1-2 in Ewers' three starts.

Selected in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL draft, Ewers served as the team's emergency third quarterback behind Tua Tagovailoa and Zach Wilson. He earned his first start in Week 16 when Tagovailoa was benched, going 1-2 in three starts to close the season. With Ewers headed to Jacksonville, the Dolphins could look to address their backup quarterback situation via trade or the waiver wire.

The acquisition indicates the Jaguars are likely moving on from backup quarterback Nick Mullens, who signed a two-year deal worth $4.5 million with $3 million guaranteed in March 2025.
