The New York Giants are trading offensive lineman Josh Ezeudu to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2028 seventh-round pick, sources told ESPN on Tuesday. Ezeudu, a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, started 10 games at guard and tackle from 2022 to 2024 but spent last season on injured reserve. He signed a one-year deal this offseason and worked at right tackle before moving inside to guard.

The Chiefs sought interior depth behind left guard Kingsley Suamataia and right guard Trey Smith. Their only experienced interior backup was Mike Caliendo, while undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson filled in at right guard during Smith's hip injury. Kansas City drafted no linemen despite nine picks after trading All-Pro cornerback Trent Mc Duffie to the Los Angeles Rams. Hunter Nourzad, a second-year player, backs up All-Pro center Creed Humphrey.

Ezeudu missed two practices after a leg injury in Saturday's preseason game against the Miami Dolphins, but Giants coach John Harbaugh deemed it minor. This is the second offensive lineman New York has traded this week, following guard Daniel Faalele to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a 2027 sixth-rounder. Harbaugh called accumulating picks a "valuable thing" the Giants will continue pursuing.
