The Los Angeles Chargers have agreed to terms with former Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku on a one-year deal worth up to $8 million. Sources confirmed the agreement with NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, though the team didn't disclose financial terms. Njoku, 29, spent his entire nine-year career in Cleveland, ranking second in franchise history among tight ends with 34 touchdown catches and 384 receptions.

Despite his career highlights, Njoku has missed 11 games due to injury over the past two seasons. His production declined in 2025, with only 33 catches for 293 yards and four touchdowns, registering a career-low 8.9 yards per reception. However, Njoku brings Pro Bowl experience after setting career-best marks in 2023 with 81 catches, 882 yards, and six touchdowns.

The addition gives Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert another target in an offense that already features rookie standout Oronde Gadsden. Njoku's arrival allows first-year offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel to implement formations with multiple receiving tight ends, providing versatility to a unit that previously lacked experienced depth.
