Cardinals, Brissett Far Apart in Contract Talks

Jacoby Brissett and the Cardinals remain far apart in contract negotiations, with the quarterback skipping voluntary OTAs while waiting for a reworked deal. A source told ESPN the two sides are "significantly" apart, raising questions about Brissett's attendance for next week's OTAs and the mandatory minicamp June 8-10.

Brissett's current deal pays $4.88 million, with $1.5 million guaranteed. This contrasts sharply with Gardner Minshew's $5.14 million guaranteed contract. Despite the contract uncertainty, Brissett started 12 games in 2025 and finished as the NFL's top-ranked quarterback from Week 6 onward, second in passing yards and fourth in completion percentage above expected.

A source confirmed the Cardinals have informed Brissett he is their starting quarterback, a shift from March when he hadn't been told he was the starter-in-waiting. New coach Mike LaFleur said discussions remain at the same point as weeks ago. Brissett's absence from voluntary activities puts his commitment to the team under scrutiny as the season approaches.
