Warriors' Porzingis Illness Threatens Free Agency Future

Golden State Warriors center Kristaps Porzingis faces an uncertain future as a mysterious illness continues to sideline him, raising questions about his availability and market value heading into free agency. The 30-year-old former All-Star has been diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), an autonomic condition that causes dizziness, fatigue, and dramatically increased heart rate.

Porzingis showed flashes of his potential during brief appearances, including a promising debut against the Denver Nuggets where he scored 11 points in 9 minutes, 48 seconds. However, he's missed six consecutive games with what coach Steve Kerr described as a "mysterious" illness. The Warriors have been cautious with his return, consulting their medical staff and director of sports medicine Rick Celebrini before making any decisions.

The timing couldn't be worse for both player and team. Porzingis is an unrestricted free agent this summer, possessing the talent to command another big contract but also carrying significant health questions that have league executives concerned. Combined with injuries to Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, the Warriors have $144.4 million in salary sitting on the sidelines while struggling to maintain a play-in spot.
