Chelsea has completed the signing of Pep Chavarría from Rayo Vallecano, making him the ninth first‑team addition this summer. The 28‑year‑old left‑back signed a five‑year deal, poised to challenge Jorrel Hato after Marc Cucurella’s move to Realensional.

Chavarría’s arrival signals a shift in Chelsea’s transfer policy, adding experience alongside Summertime signings of Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson. He played a key role in Rayo Vallecano’s 2025‑26 campaign, featuring in 44 matches as the club reached the Conference League final and finished eighth in La Liga. “I’m so excited to get started,” said Chavarría, praising the opportunity to join one of the world’s biggest clubs.

The summer window also saw the record‑deal signing of Morgan Rogers, plus Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra, Valentín Barco, and others, while the club bid farewell to Cucurella, Andrey Santos, Trevoh Chalobah and loaned Alejandro Garnacho to Aston Villa.
