Stanford guard Ebuka Okorie declared for the NBA draft Thursday, ending a single standout season with the Cardinal. The New Hampshire native arrived as an unheralded recruit and quickly became Kyle Smith’s top offensive weapon. In a social‑media post he thanked Smith and staff for giving him a chance to thrive on and off the court.

Okorie paced the ACC at 23.2 points per game, finishing eighth nationally and eclipsing the freshman scoring record with 719 points, the third‑most in Stanford history. He dropped 26 points in his debut, set a school freshman mark with 36 against North Carolina, and exploded for 40 versus Georgia Tech. Eight 30‑point outings shattered Marvin Bagley III’s ACC benchmark.

A first‑team All‑ACC selection and honorable AP All‑American, Okorie also averaged 3.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals, a statistical line not seen since Ja Morant and Jermaine Marrow in 2018‑19. Scouts view his blend of penetration and a 46.9% three‑point clip in the final dozen games as enough for a late first‑round pick. His departure leaves Stanford without its scoring engine for next season.
