Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of Kevin Durant playing in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Spoelstra, who will coach Team USA, said Durant's interest in competing for a fifth gold medal is "incredible" and aligns with USA Basketball's culture of attracting top American talent.

Durant, the No. 6 NBA scorer of all time, recently told ESPN he "would love to" play in Los Angeles, aiming to prove his worth to the selection committee. The 37-year-old forward has already secured his place in Olympic history as the only four-time gold medalist in men's basketball, with victories in 2012, 2016, 2021, and 2024.

Spoelstra, who was an assistant coach during the 2024 Paris Games, praised Durant's work ethic and timeless game. He noted Durant's dedication to improving even at his age, describing him as "an absolute tactician" in player development. Durant currently trails only LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, and Kobe Bryant on the NBA's all-time scoring list.
