USA Basketball is reportedly assembling its coaching staff for Erik Spoelstra's national team, with Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault, Detroit Pistons head coach JB Bickerstaff, and Gonzaga head coach Mark Few expected to serve as assistants. Spoelstra was named head coach last September, succeeding Steve Kerr after the 2024 Paris Olympics gold medal.

Few brings significant national team experience, having been an assistant alongside Spoelstra since 2021. For Daigneault and Bickerstaff, this marks their first national team coaching roles. Daigneault's Thunder have been top contenders, winning the 2025 championship, while Bickerstaff's Pistons achieved an Eastern Conference-best 60 wins last season.

Team USA's upcoming schedule includes World Cup qualifiers in late August against Chile and Colombia, aiming for the 2027 World Cup in Qatar. The squad has already secured a spot in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
