Anunoby back in full practice as Knicks eye East finals

OG Anunoby took part in a full practice session with the New York Knicks on Friday, marking his first complete workout since a right‑hamstring strain ended his postseason run in early May. The forward missed the last two games of the Knicks’ second‑round sweep of Philadelphia, leaving the starting lineup shorthanded.

Coach Mike Brown confirmed Anunoby ran the full drill set on Friday, noting he participated in every segment despite lingering soreness. Earlier in the week the veteran sat out high‑intensity portions while the team eased back into full‑speed practice, a precaution after the injury occurred late in Game 2 of the series.

Anunoby’s postseason numbers have been impressive, averaging 21.4 points while shooting 61.9% from the field and 53.8% from beyond the arc. Those efficiency figures helped the Knicks clinch the East semifinals and could prove decisive if they open the conference finals against Cleveland on Sunday.

Should the Cavaliers dispatch Detroit in Game 6, New York will host Game 1 on Sunday; if the series stretches to seven, Anunoby won’t need to be game‑ready until Tuesday. His return now gives the Knicks a full complement of starters for the opening contest, removing a lingering doubt from their championship push.
