New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. left Monday's 7-3 loss to the Detroit Tigers after a violent collision with teammate Jasson Dominguez in the fourth inning. The incident occurred when Dominguez charged into Chisholm while catching a popup intended for the second baseman, leaving Chisholm bloodied and requiring medical attention on the field.

With the Yankees down 7-0, Hao-Yu Lee hit a high popup to shallow right field. Chisholm retreated to make the catch but Dominguez's aggressive charge resulted in his glove striking Chisholm in the face. The second baseman fell unconscious briefly before sitting up and walking off under his own power with assistance from trainers and manager Aaron Boone.

Chisholm, batting .222 with 12 homers and 33 RBIs in 81 games this season, was ejected Sunday for spiking his helmet behind home plate after a strikeout. Despite the injury, he made his only at-bat appearance Monday, striking out as the Yankees' designated hitter. The collision marks another setback for New York's infield depth.
