Uribe Appeals MLB Suspension For Cardinals Gesture

Milwaukee Brewers reliever Abner Uribe received a one-game suspension from MLB for making WWE-style crotch chops toward the St. Louis Cardinals dugout following an inning-ending strikeout Tuesday. The pitcher is appealing the penalty, meaning he'll be available Friday when Milwaukee opens a three-game series in Houston.

The suspension stems from Uribe's actions after retiring Alec Burleson on a called third strike in the eighth inning of a 6-0 victory over the Cardinals. Manager Pat Murphy expressed embarrassment, calling the antics unacceptable. This isn't Uribe's first disciplinary issue; he previously served a six-game suspension following a benches-clearing brawl against Tampa Bay in April 2024.

Uribe apologized to his teammates and manager, acknowledging his "bit of a history of being emotional out there." While the fine amount remains undisclosed, the Brewers face an ongoing challenge with their reliever's on-field behavior despite his remorse and appeal availability for this weekend's games.
