Big 12 schools have signed the College Sports Commission’s participation agreement, making the conference the first Power Four to bind all members to the NIL watchdog. Commissioner Brett Yormark said the deal signals a commitment to enforce rules that emerged from the House settlement. The agreement waives schools’ right to sue the agency.

The 11‑page contract requires schools to relinquish litigation rights and grants the CSC broad authority to sanction programs that breach NIL caps or other compliance measures. With 68 Power Four institutions under the same rules, the CSC can now enforce uniform standards across the country as the first unified body.

Kansas State president Richard Linton noted the board’s unanimous vote, while Yormark said the league expects all signatures by early next week. The CSC has already cleared more than 26,000 NIL deals worth $242.3 million through May 1, underscoring its growing influence. This move positions the Big 12 as a model for other conferences.

By standardizing oversight, the Big 12 tightens control over player compensation and protects programs from costly legal disputes. The CSC’s new authority could reshape NIL negotiations nationwide, making the conference a benchmark for compliance and fairness in college sports. This framework also streamlines reporting and reduces administrative burden for schools.
