In a rare trade between division rivals, the Philadelphia Phillies have acquired left-hander Brooks Raley from the New York Mets. The Phillies are sending two minor leaguers, High-A right-hander Luke Gabrysh and High-A outfielder John Spikerman, to the Mets.

Raley, 38, bolsters a struggling Phillies bullpen, which has a 5.70 ERA since July 1, ranking 27th in MLB. He has posted a 1.96 ERA in 41⅓ innings this season and was considered one of the best left-handed relievers available on the market.

The move comes as the Phillies, despite recent struggles, aim to strengthen their roster for a playoff push. Meanwhile, the Mets, under David Stearns, continue to unload veteran players from their expensive roster, pivoting away from the current season. Raley is the fourth veteran traded by the Mets this week.
