The Mets will retire Carlos Beltrán’s No. 15 before the September 19 home game against the Phillies, simultaneously inducting him into the franchise Hall of Fame. Beltrán becomes the ninth Met to receive that honor, joining legends such as Tom Seaver, Mike Piazza and David Wright. The ceremony will cap a summer packed with personal milestones.

Beltrán entered baseball’s Hall of Fame earlier this year and selected a Mets cap for his plaque. Hired as manager in November 2019, he was fired before managing a game amid the Astros sign‑stealing controversy. In February 2023 he returned as a special assistant to GM David Stearns and now advises president of baseball operations. Outfielder Tyrone Taylor will change from No. 15 to No. 28.

Owners Steve and Alex Cohen called Beltrán “one of the greatest offensive players in team history,” praising his blend of power, speed and elite defense. The former All‑Star described the double honor as the “highest possible tribute,” adding that the summer will be “incredibly meaningful.” With the jersey retirement set for Sept. 19, the Mets will celebrate a franchise icon in front of a home crowd.
