ESPN has launched its MLB Bat Flip Championship Belt for the 2026 season, with Randy Arozarena of the Seattle Mariners winning the inaugural title. The belt concept celebrates the artistry of bat flips following home runs, transforming what was once controversial into a celebrated skill.

Arozarena's winning flip came during Friday night's home opener at T-Mobile Park, where he hit a 426-foot home run into the second deck. His celebration included dropping to one knee, pointing the bat skyward, and executing a long two-handed toss that took 31.54 seconds to complete - the fifth-longest trot of the young season. The moment electrified the crowd of nearly 45,000 gathered for the unveiling of the Ichiro Suzuki statue.

His opponent, Gavin Sheets of the San Diego Padres, hit a dramatic walk-off three-run homer later that night wearing the team's new City Connect jerseys. While Sheets' blast traveled 434 feet and gave the Padres consecutive walk-off wins, judges awarded Arozarena the belt for his complete package of flair, including a dugout trident celebration and guitar-playing with the bat. The belt will be defended throughout the season as players compete for the title of 2026 champion.
