Byron Buxton Injured, Lands on IL

The Minnesota Twins have placed Byron Buxton on the 10-day injured list due to a recurring hip injury. The outfielder, who was selected as an American League All-Star starter, will miss the upcoming All-Star break as he recovers. This marks Buxton's first stint on the IL this season, though he previously missed time in May and last week with the same right hip impingement.

Buxton aggravated the injury during an awkward slide while attempting to steal second base on Sunday. Manager Derek Shelton indicated that given the schedule and Buxton's condition, placing him on the IL was the best course of action. The Twins recalled outfielder Alan Roden from Triple-A St. Paul to take Buxton's place on the roster.

The 32-year-old Buxton has been a significant contributor this season, hitting .271 with a team-leading .904 OPS and 25 home runs in 75 games. His absence is a blow to the Twins' lineup as they navigate the remainder of the season, particularly with his power potential and speed. The team will need other players to step up offensively while Buxton recovers.
