WNBA Housing Guarantee in New CBA Proposal

The WNBA has submitted a new collective bargaining agreement proposal that would guarantee housing for all players in 2026 before phasing it out in subsequent years, sources told ESPN. This marks the first time housing has been included in the league's proposals during these negotiations, following a six-week stalemate.

The league's counterproposal comes three days after the WNBPA responded to the previous offer with its own plan calling for an average of 27.5% of gross revenue over the agreement's lifetime. The union's proposal would maintain housing provisions for several years before eliminating the requirement for players on maximum contracts with full salary protection.

Revenue sharing remains the major sticking point, with the league projecting the WNBPA's plan would result in $460 million in losses over the agreement's lifetime. The WNBA is offering players on average over 70% of net revenue, which translates to less than 15% of gross revenue, with a $5.65 million salary cap in 2026 that would grow with revenue.
