UConn guard Solo Ball will miss the entire 2026-27 season after undergoing wrist surgery, the school announced Monday. The 6-foot-4 junior will take a medical redshirt and return for the 2027-28 campaign. Ball has started 74 games over the past two seasons for the Huskies.

Ball enjoyed a breakout sophomore season in 2024-25, jumping from 3.3 points to 14.4 points per game while shooting 41.4% from three-point range. This past season, the wrist injury severely impacted his shooting, particularly late in the year. He finished at just 30% from deep overall and 25.7% in six NCAA tournament games, though he still averaged 12.8 points and made three 3-pointers in both Final Four contests.

Coach Dan Hurley acknowledged the setback, calling Ball "a true Husky and a champion" who would do anything to play. The Huskies will lean on the return of freshman Braylon Mullins, who opted to stay despite being a projected top-20 NBA draft pick after averaging 12.0 points and shooting 33.5% from three as a freshman. Hurley also added transfers from Duke and Seton Hall along with top-40 recruits to help offset Ball's absence.
