UConn freshman center Eric Reibe has entered the transfer portal, sources told ESPN on Friday. The 7-foot-1 German native was a rotation player on the Huskies' Final Four team and a former McDonald's All American who ranked as the No. 2 center in the Class of 2025. He was projected to step into a starting role next season following NCAA tournament star Tarris Reed's departure.

When Reed missed five games early in the season, Reibe averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 blocks while shooting 65% from the field. However, his minutes dropped significantly as Reed became more dominant, with Reibe averaging just 6.7 minutes across six NCAA tournament games. For the season, he posted 5.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.

Reibe's departure leaves UConn without at least three rotation players. Reed, program legend Alex Karaban and backup point guard Malachi Smith are all out of eligibility, while freshman starter Braylon Mullins is a projected top-20 NBA draft pick. The Huskies expect to bring back starting guards Silas Demary Jr. and Solo Ball, along with reserves Jayden Ross and Jaylin Stewart, and have signed top-50 recruits Colben Landrew and Junior County.
