A Long Island-based distillery has sued LIV Golf in federal court, alleging the golf league's use of "LIV" branding for alcoholic beverages and apparel infringes on its registered trademark. Long Island Spirits Inc. filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, accusing the league of violating federal and New York trademark laws.

The craft distillery is seeking to enjoin LIV Golf from using "LIV" in connection with alcohol or apparel sales and demanding punitive damages for "willful and intentional unfair competition." The lawsuit claims the golf league's branding has caused "widespread confusion amongst customers, distributors, and depressing sales" of its craft alcohol products. According to the complaint, LIV Golf has deployed billions of dollars in marketing to expand into areas where Long Island Spirits has built its reputation since 2007.

This marks the latest trademark dispute for the controversial golf league, which has faced multiple infringement claims. In June 2025, Stinger Tees, Inc. filed a $100 million lawsuit against the Stinger GC team, with the case headed to mediation in April. An Argentine corporation also dropped its 2023 lawsuit against LIV Golf and its HyFlyers GC team after alleging logo copying. The repeated legal challenges highlight growing tensions between the Saudi-backed league and established brands over trademark usage.
