Yaxel Lendeborg delivered a spectacular performance with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists, leading Michigan to a 90-77 victory over Alabama in the Sweet 16. The top-seeded Wolverines advanced to their first Elite Eight in five years while setting a school record with 34 wins this season.

Labaron Philon Jr. scored 35 points for Alabama, which played without suspended guard Aden Holloway. The Crimson Tide reached the Elite Eight each of the previous two years but couldn't contain Michigan's versatile forward. Led by Lendeborg, the Wolverines dominated the second half after an up-tempo first half that saw both teams combine for 74 shots.

The 6-foot-9 Lendeborg became the first Michigan player with 20+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 5+ assists in an NCAA tournament game since Jimmy King in 1995. Michigan coach Dusty May defeated his longtime friend Alabama's Nate Oats. The Wolverines will face the winner of Tennessee-Iowa State in Sunday's Midwest Region final.
