Italian skier Federica Brignone captured her second gold medal in four days at the Winter Olympics by winning the women's giant slalom on Sunday in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The 35-year-old led after the first run and finished 0.62 seconds ahead of defending champion Sara Hector of Sweden and Thea Louise Stjernesund of Norway.

The race isn't officially complete, with dozens of lower-tier racers still to take the course. Brignone's victory follows her downhill win on Thursday, marking her first gold medals at an Olympics. The home crowd celebrated as Brignone secured her place in Italian skiing history.

Meanwhile, Mikaela Shiffrin finished 11th, extending her medal drought to eight consecutive Olympic events since 2018. The American standout, who had been a favorite in multiple disciplines, continues to struggle to find her form on the Olympic stage despite her dominance in World Cup competitions.
