Austria's Ariane Raedler and Katharina Huber claimed gold in the new team combined event at the Milan Cortina Olympics, while the United States secured bronze. Mikaela Shiffrin and Breezy Johnson finished fourth after Shiffrin lost her first-run lead in the slalom portion.

Shiffrin, the most successful World Cup racer with 108 victories, has now gone seven consecutive Olympic races without a medal. The team combined event features one downhill racer and one slalom specialist, with their times added together. Shiffrin crossed 0.31 seconds behind the leaders, missing the podium by just 0.06 seconds behind teammate Paula Moltzan.

Germany's Kira Weidle-Winkelmann and Emma Aicher earned silver. Johnson, fresh off her individual downhill gold, embraced Shiffrin in the finish area as Austrian teammates celebrated their victory. Shiffrin still has her individual giant slalom and slalom events remaining in these Games.
