Injuries & Roster Moves

The Rangers placed right-hander Nathan Eovaldi on the 15-day IL because of elbow inflammation. Giants third baseman Matt Chapman, who has seven homers and 42 RBIs in 84 games, will undergo season-ending abdominal surgery Tuesday. The Mets placed reliever Devin Williams on the 15-day IL with a right shoulder strain, though interim manager Andy Green expects a short stint. The Rays put Griffin Jax on the IL with right elbow discomfort. New Phillies reliever Caleb Kilian landed on the 15-day IL with a left oblique strain before Monday’s series opener against the Cardinals.

Roster Additions & Returns

The Diamondbacks added Michael Soroka off the IL and signed right-hander Zack Littell to a one-year contract to bolster their pitching staff. The Red Sox expect to activate newly acquired catcher Adley Rutschman from the IL on Tuesday.
