The Milwaukee Brewers are acquiring right-hander Dustin May and left-hander JoJo Romero from the Cardinals in exchange for multiple prospects, a source told ESPN. The Blue Jays are acquiring right-hander Jose Soriano in a trade with the Angels. The Astros, who have surged into first place in the AL West, are finalizing a deal to acquire center fielder Daulton Varsho from the Blue Jays, sources told ESPN. The Mets have offloaded a third relief pitcher at the trade deadline, moving right-hander Luke Weaver to the Pirates in exchange for infield prospect Sammy Stafura.

Rotation and Catcher Upgrades

Several teams bolstered their rotations and catcher positions during the deadline period. The Padres, who desperately needed starting pitching help, have acquired left-hander Robbie Ray from the Giants, sources told ESPN. The Boston Red Sox are acquiring three-time All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan. The Los Angeles Dodgers made another significant addition to their pitching staff, sending shock waves through baseball with another ace acquisition. With a trade seemingly inevitable, Tarik Skubal tried to keep things normal amid the chaos during his last two days as a Tiger.

Outfield and Infield Adjustments

Teams also made moves to address their outfield and infield needs. The Mariners, who were in the market for a right-handed bat, are acquiring outfielder Taylor Ward in a trade with the Orioles, sources told ESPN. Bryce Harper will ease back into playing right field to help fix the Phillies' infield conundrum caused by the acquisition of second baseman Luis Arraez.
