Komar Industries, backed by ONCAP, has acquired Metro Compactor Service, BaleForce Recycling Equipment and Chute Source, forming a combined Canadian waste and recycling equipment services provider. The deal unites Komar's US manufacturing capabilities with Metro's established service operations in Canada. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 1978 and based in Brampton, Ontario, Metro specializes in waste and recycling equipment solutions enhanced by industrial Internet of Things monitoring technology. Komar, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, designs and manufactures waste and recycling processing equipment. ONCAP, the mid-market investment arm of Onex Corp, acquired Komar in June 2021.

The acquisition strategically positions the combined entity to leverage Komar's manufacturing strength in the US with Metro's service leadership in Canada. This expansion enhances ONCAP's portfolio in the waste management sector and creates operational synergies between the two companies' complementary capabilities in equipment manufacturing and service delivery.
