T-Mobile has launched a beta for its live translation service, allowing real-time conversation translation during calls. The 50-language feature works on any T-connected phone from iPhones to flip phones without requiring additional apps. Users initiate translation by pressing *87* during calls, with almost instantaneous translations of both speakers.

Unlike Apple's iOS 26 translation feature, T-Mobile's network-based solution works across device types and requires only one participant to be on T-Mobile. The beta is currently free to test, though the company hasn't specified future pricing after the beta period ends.

The beta testing period has limited spots available through T-Mobile's website. This development could fundamentally change how people communicate across language barriers, though potential privacy concerns remain about AI-powered call translation. T-Mobile's solution works even when calling landlines, expanding its accessibility.
